A trade exchange for local businesses

Your empty hours
have buyers.

Every business has capacity that vanishes unsold — the quiet Tuesday, the unbooked chair, the idle press. The Commerce Exchange turns it into trade dollars you spend with other local businesses: new customers for what you sell, and a way to pay for what you need while your cash stays in your pocket.

How it works

Earn. Spend. Repeat.

Earn from what you'd waste

Members buy your goods and services with trade dollars — often the capacity that would have gone unsold. Your broker actively finds you the buyers; you don't wait to be discovered.

Spend where it counts

Printing, catering, repairs, advertising, staff rewards — buy what your business needs from other members and keep your cash for rent and payroll. Pay at the counter with a QR scan, no app needed.

Run it like a bank account

Every trade lands on a monthly statement with invoice numbers your bookkeeper can cross-check. Taxes handled the way the CRA expects — barter done properly.

The member journey

Six stages. Which one are you at?

This is the path our strongest members walk — mapped from real stories, like the tradesman who went from a basement and a blocked certification to self-employed with staff, powered by one first trade.

Stage 1 — Stranded. Real skill, tight cash. Empty tables, unbooked hours, idle equipment — capacity that disappears every night, unsold. The economy has no timeline for you.
The marketplace

"What would I even spend it on?"

The right first question — a currency is only as good as what it buys. Here's the network today:

And when you need something no member offers, tell your broker — finding it is their job, including through partner exchanges in other networks.

Why your bookkeeper will approve

Barter, done like banking

Statements that reconcile

Monthly, print-quality, with invoice numbers on every line. Your accountant sees a ledger, not a shoebox.

Taxes, handled

Trade income is taxable — everyone serious knows it. GST is computed on every trade the way the CRA expects, and your tax reports generate themselves.

A broker who says no

Members are vetted, credit lines are enforced, disputes get a human. This is a curated trading community, not an open app.

Fair questions

Asked by every smart owner before joining

Is this actually legal and tax-proper?

Completely. Barter is recognized commerce — the CRA treats trade dollars as taxable income at fair value, and the exchange computes GST on every trade and generates your tax reports. Your statement is built to hand to your accountant.

What if I earn trade dollars and can't spend them?

The question that matters most — and the reason this exchange is broker-run and curated. You can see today's member count and categories above, your broker actively sources what you need, and partner exchanges extend the network further. Trade dollars that just sit are a failure we manage against, actively.

How do the fees work?

A small cash transaction fee on trades plus a modest monthly fee — all on your statement, no surprises. The trade dollars themselves move one-for-one: earn T$100, spend T$100.

Do I need to be technical?

If you can read email, you're ready. Statements still print on paper. Getting paid at your counter is a card by the till a customer scans with their phone camera — no app for either of you.

Your first trade within 30 days

That's the goal we set for every new member — you leave orientation with one listing posted and one purchase identified. Apply, and let's find out what your quiet capacity is worth.
